ENDLESS YEARNING

Lanthe, a once-formidable sorceress struggling to reclaim her gifts, searches for love and acceptance with all the wrong immortal suitors. But she’s never forgotten Thronos, the magnificent silver-eyed boy who protected her until she was ripped from the shelter of his arms. One harrowing night changed everything between them. Now he’s a notorious warlord with a blood vendetta against Lanthe, hunting her relentlessly.

CAN THE HEAT OF DESIRE BURN BRIGHTER THAN VENGEANCE?

With their families locked in conflict and battles raging all around them, will Thronos and Lanthe succumb to the brutal chaos that threatens everything they cherish? Or will the fragile bond they formed so long ago spark a passion strong enough to withstand even the darkest doubts?

OH, MY GOODNESS! MY VERY FIRST BOOK REVIEW! I am so excited and happy that I’ve finally reached this point after months of hard work on JSS. 🙂 I thought I’d start off my brand-new book reviewing blog with a review of one of my favorite books by my favorite author of all time – KRESLEY COLE! Yes, her name deserves to be in all caps like that – She’s amazing! 🙂 Anyway, on to the review…

I’ve been a dedicated reader of the Immortals After Dark (IAD) Series By, Kresley Cole since Pleasure of a Dark Prince (book number 9) came out in 2010. I read (or rather gobbled-up) that book and fell completely in love with the series, and quickly purchased and devoured the previous books. After finishing all the books in the series that had so far been released, I didn’t know what to do with myself. I just sat around and waited for the next installment to come out. This began my tradition of ‘patiently’ waiting until midnight on the day of the release, purchasing the book as soon as it became available, consuming it in 2 hours or less, and then starting my – usually year-long – waiting period. 😦

In 2014, I renewed this tradition with Dark Skye – book number 15 in Kresley Cole’s IAD Series. That means that this review is a re-read (if ya’ll care to note that 🙂 ). When Dark Skye finally came out, I had been so impatient for Thronos’ and Lanthe’s story since Kresley Cole first introduced them. Each year, I would wait on news from Kresley Cole about which couple would feature in her next book. I would hope each book was Lanthe’s and Thronos’ story, and get slightly disappointed when it wasn’t. 😦 Then, I would perk right up because no matter which couple is next Kresley Cole always delivers an amazing story! 🙂

*Minor spoilers in the following paragraph:

Unlike other novels in the series, Thronos and Lanthe meet the first time as children. Thronos – a Vrekener – instantly recognizes Lanthe – one of the Sorceri – as his mate. They hang out, as children do, until Thronos’ father, king of the Vrekeners, leads an attack on Lanthe’s family. (I should note here that Vrekeners are the enemies of the Sorceri and vice versa, in case ya’ll didn’t know that 😉 ). This and the resulting aftermath begins the centuries-long conflict between Lanthe and Thronos.

*See this link for more information about the Lore and the various species within it.

*Spoilers over!

I loved this book so much! Kresley Cole makes Thronos’ and Lanthe’s anguish, confusion, and feelings of betrayal so apparent on the pages that you can’t help but feel for yourself their roller-coasterly (Yes, I just made-up a word 🙂 ) emotions as you read through their story. I’m always eager to know just how Kresley Cole is going to weave a believable and heart-wrenching love story out of so much anguish and betrayal and with Dark Skye, she does not disappoint! It took a little longer for these characters to find their love for each other again… but OH THE FEELS! 🙂  Dark Skye was a compelling new addition to an already AMAZING series and quickly became, and still is today, one of my top three-ish (It’s so hard to choose!) favorite IAD novels. 🙂
